Question 1. What does Shan mean?

Shan is Chinese for mountain. We choose that name to represent the value of a journey to find wisdom. We do not offer canned services that may or may not fit your needs. We assess and analyze the current situation and offer effective solutions that can be incorporated into your current business model. Long term strategies for success.

The power to adapt is the most effective strategic advantage one can have regardless the field of concern.

Question 2. Why use a Chinese name to identify your company?

Great wisdom in all cultures is associated with mountains. The wisdom of great leaders of the past guide us in our strategy today.

Shan institute focuses on wisdom of Suntzu and Musashi who continue today to be taught in MBA coursework as their timeless wisdom continue to offer some of the best insight to successful strategy no matter the business venture.

The founder has roots in Chinese medicine and martial arts and this is where, when in China working with businesses there learn communication skills that the Shan Institute became not just a thought but the beginning of a new idea in business human-centric philosophy.

Question 3. What the heck is a life coach?

A coach is a person that brings your game to another level. Whether you need life hacks, or professional skills,  a fitness routine that works, or work/life balance the fact is we don't get to where we are going alone. We only get there with the help of others. It is hard in today's society to find mentors that can work in all aspects of your life.

Coaching solves that by offering direct one-on-one mentoring on the things you need work on the most.  Whether you have one, or several sessions, or continuous work, just having someone that you can reflect with and can help focus your energy better can make your journey better and your goals more attainable.

Let's get to work.

Question 4. How do we know what we need?

The absolute most difficult part of a trainer's job is finding out what needs to be worked on. Without knowing what you don't know we would have a hard time with planning on how to attack the knowledge gap.

So we can help with that.

Bring us in to asses what is going on and maker recommendations.

This is one of the problems I have with CANNED solutions. Many people offer off the shelf training that is pre-boxed and formatted. Some things might apply, some may not. The format could be right for some not so right for others. In the end learning has benefits so something good happens. But is it enough?

I believe in research and analysis and driving training that fits the needs of the individuals and the business. Then creating something together that works best and has the most impact, not just immediate impact but applied training, coaching and mentoring with a results oriented focus so that the returns keep happening over time.

Question 5. How much does it cost?

As much as it needs to.

PRICE has no meaning except in the absence of VALUE.

Is training expensive, not nearly anywhere near as costly as not training.

One of the things we can offer is a training cost analysis so you know how much you are already losing to turn over and burn out and lack of engagement.

Once you quantify your current long range losses you can start to measure the value in training staff and developing a motivated and communicative culture.

It is the VALUE that should concern you. When you invest in value then you see continuing returns.

To be honest if you see training as a cost rather than an investment it might be really hard to have a conversation with us.

We can help you by direct training and coaching, through research and data analysis, project management and strategy development as well as training your training team. We can even help you build one from scratch.

Let's calculate your losses first so you know how much there is to gain by investing in your people.

Question 6. What does the Shan Institute do that is different?

There are a lot of coaches out there. A lot of training, really great training available.

What is it we do that is different is that we care. I mean honestly we are not about band-aids, canned solutions, and slapping a little water on the latest fire.

We are fired up about offering enduring solutions through HUMAN-CENTRIC development. Human capital is THE most powerful tool you have to make your business more successful.

People are NOT replaceable. They are not a burden they are your solution.

When I say I want to make a better tomorrow, one person at a time... I mean just that. I want to touch the lives of people to help them reach their potential and when you do that everyone wins.

You get more engaged, developed and creative teams working for the mission of your company.

I believe in looking at what is going on and finding the best solutions to work on together.

What makes us different is that we care. I want success for your business and especially for the people in your business.

Join me on making that happen.
